Operation Shoestring Playground Renovation

Operation Shoestring’s existing playground serves children from 4 years old through the 5th grade (over 100 children daily). As currently constructed, access to the playground is poor and children must walk to the street to enter it. It is limited in what play activities are available and only a portion of the total area is currently in use. Recently, Operation Shoestring made the decision to discontinue play at the playground until they are able to improve conditions.

We would like to completely renovate this playground, including redesigning and rebuilding it. We want to improve playground access, better utilize space, and create a more functional, engaging environment for the children to play and enjoy.

We will need volunteers to do the following: Painting the fence (including creative artwork), disassembly/reassembly of playground equipment, minor landscaping, etc.

If you’re interested in volunteering for this project, please contact John Chesney.
