Operation Shoestring After School Program

One important project we’ve begun is our participation in the after school program at Operation Shoestring in Jackson. Operation Shoestring provides tutoring, literacy development, and cultural arts instruction for children in kindergarten through the 5th grade. Led by certified teachers, it offers neighborhood children a safe harbor after school and during the summer, while helping parents to stay at work with the assurance that their children are receiving quality supervision and care.

Puckett Serves is helping this important program by providing volunteers two hours, once every week or two to assist Operation Shoestring teachers. Additionally, our volunteers can coordinate with Operation Shoestring to do fun projects for the children (ex: crafts, cultural, etc.).

We are accepting new volunteers for the Operation Shoestring after school program. Interested volunteers should enjoy working with children in assisting teachers based on each volunteer’s interests and abilities. Typical volunteer times will be weekdays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

For more information on volunteering for this project, please contact John Chesney in Jackson.
